About BG Kompas

BG Kompas is an independent guide for families moving to or living in Bulgaria. We help you choose a city, plan a budget and handle paperwork, benefits, kindergartens and schools.

Why we do this

The project was started by someone who planned his own family's move to Bulgaria with children and found that most information online was out of date, written in leva, or selling agency services. We wanted one place where everything is calculated and checked.

How we check information

• Official sources first: Bulgarian law, the Ministry of Interior, the Social Assistance Agency, the National Statistical Institute, Eurydice.
• Every figure has a link and a date. Where data is crowd-sourced (such as Numbeo) or thin, we say so.
• Regular updates. Each page shows when it was last checked.
• Open about our tools: texts are prepared with AI tools, and every figure is checked against its original source.

How we make money

We don't yet: the site is free and ad-free. Advertising and affiliate links may come later. Every ad will be labelled and will never affect figures or rankings — our rules.
